Our 13-week internship program provides students the opportunity to learn about all facets of our business.
You’ll explore Business Management, Construction Management, Equipment Management, Heavy Equipment Shops and Site Safety.
You’ll become an important member of our team with real responsibilities and you’ll play a significant role in all aspects of our projects with the opportunity to have a measurable impact.
Upon completing an internship at Cornejo, you will have gained valuable experience, built professional connections and gained a competitive advantage in the workforce.
Gain experience while being exposed to the construction business and the day-to-day operations. Receive mentoring and hands-on training to develop the skills needed for advancement. Internships are available in multiple business divisions.
Learn about all aspects of construction management including engineering, procurement, and construction of heavy highway, commercial, and private concrete and asphalt paving. Receive mentoring and hands-on training to develop the skills needed for entry into this field.
Gain experience in equipment management — from providing hands on assistance in one of our company shops or working alongside the Equipment Manager, assisting with division reporting and analysis. Receive mentoring and hands-on training to develop the skills needed for entry into equipment management. You can choose whether to intern in a shop or at our corporate office.
Site Safety Coordinator
Assist in the planning, implementation and supervision of project safety, accident and fire protection programs in compliance with corporate, federal, state and local program standards. Receive mentoring and hands-on training to develop the skills needed for advancement. Learn about safety metrics and assist with minimizing exposure to risks.
Partner with safety management providing potential exposure to federal inspectors, workers’ compensation and claims processing, incident investigations, property and automotive damage. Work on various construction job sites and plants and interact with third-party subcontractors. Assist with safety training of new and existing employees.
Purchase required safety supplies, personal protective equipment, and gain exposure working with multiple suppliers, learning price negotiation and processing invoices.

Intern Eligibility Requirements
- Full time college student enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
- Legally eligible for employment in the United States
- Have a valid driver’s license
